Annie's Apple

(c) Arianna Elliott; Annie's Apple

While this is not my drawing, I thought it deserved a place on Lilium's Artistic Musings. She has done a beautiful job here! She was only 9 years old when she sketched this. I will add more artwork from my artistic children at a later date.

The Elf Queen

(c) Susan Elliott

I found this elf queen in a how to draw fairies book. It is actually one of the most helpful books I've found for teaching about depth and shading.

My Picasso's Coffee Pot

(c) Susan Elliott

This painting is done on canvas board in oils. It is one of my favorite paintings. I am a big fan of Picasso!

Captain Jack

(c) Susan Elliott; Captain Jack

Captain Jack in oils. My husband says it looks like a medieval painting of Jesus! LOL!  No excuses. I am a big fan of Captain Jack.

Captain Jack

Smoky fog, thick swirling mist
Smoldering exotic eyes are beckoning
Yet, fear is a paralyzing trap
Locking anxious willing feet to statuary.

Tiny arrows, pierce silken skin
Numbness, is an unwelcome fighting impulse
Still, the heart beats up high in the throat
His erotic eyes beckon, "Feel my embrace."

Outstretched arms, sword in hand
Silver pistola secured tight on a taut thigh
Long dreads, chestnut hair flying in the wind
Framing his angular rogue-ish visage.

Plump juicy lips, parting slightly
Breath billows out, wafting on icy air
Yet, its to far to hold, to catch it, to inhale it.
If only to breathe in, that breath which escaped him.

Distant eyes whispering, a name once familiar
Drawing short breaths, from rasping lungs
Still, standing still, helpless to never succumb to him
Ever painfully aroused torture.

Taste, touch, salty sea smell
Delicately drifting in front of a screaming mouth
Like finger tips moist from sweet wet kisses
Brushing soft against wanting lips.

Demonic desire, rising from smoky solitude,
Beckoning seductive, with paralyzing eyes
Tortured, still statuary, standing paces from ecstasy
Sentenced to life in a pirate's hell.

Granny's Crochet Angel

(c) Susan Elliott, Granny's Crochet Angel

I sat with my Granny Charlene one evening and watched as she created the most beautiful crocheted angel Christmas ornaments. That inspired me to make an angel of my own. I left it with her so she could enjoy it as much as her ornaments gave me joy.

Pelican Bait Shop

(c) Susan Elliott, Pelican Bait Shop, Rockport, Texas

You can tell that I was still new to painting when this was done. The painting is a little lopsided, and leaves the viewer with a feeling of being on the water. Perhaps that's not a bad thing since the bait shop sits on Fulton Bay!

The Pastel Forest

(c) Susan Elliott, The Pastel Forest

This is one of my first paintings. I created this with oil paints, and applied the paint wet on wet. It gave the entire piece an interesting look.

Over Troubled Waters

(c) Susan Elliott, Over Troubled Waters

This is a snapshot of one of the first paintings I sold. This was done on canvas board in acrylic. I love the way the cross is illuminated.

Have fun sketching!

Sue's Pears; Susan Elliott

The pears were first created in pencil and then taken to photoshop. I color enhanced them so that the color contrast was even greater. I love sketching. This is a recreation of Van gogh's Pears.

The Mayan Calendar

The Mayan Calendar; Susan Elliott

Art is a fun process, and it is always a learning process.  A few years ago I thought I would try sketching a Mayan Calendar. It is a little lopsided, and yet, it still has a certain appeal. This is created in charcoal pencil and metallic marker.

Create with a passion!

Te Amo in Charcoal

Te Amo; Susan Elliott

This was created in charcoal. If you look close, the words "Te amo" are visible and help to form the background. This was a fun piece. Te amo means I love you in Spanish.

At Water's Edge, Rockport Fulton Beach, Rockport Texas

At Water's Edge, Rockport Fulton Beach, Rockport, Texas, Susan Elliott

I painted this at the Rockport Fulton Beach while visiting my Mother-in-law. My daughters played at the water's edge. They can be seen wearing the black and the blue bathing suits. This is one of my most favorite paintings. Like a portrait it has captured a definite moment in time. The sky was so blue that day, and as shown in the painting, there were several boaters, and people enjoying the warm air. This is painted in acrylic on canvas board. I used water from the ocean to rinse my brushes. The painting has an extra sheen due to the salt water.

Forest Elves

Forest Elves, Susan Elliott

This painting is done in acrylic. It was painted for a dear friend who absolutely loves Lord of the Rings. While the characters are not exact replicas of Arwen Evenstar or Aragorn, they represent their love.  Two wood elves meet in seclusion deep in the forest to profess their love.

A Portrait of Genocide

A Portrait of Genocide, Susan Elliott

This is done on poster board and acrylic. She was my very first painting, and was used as a visual aid for a speech about genocide. Her face is blank because she represents the women that were slaughtered in Rwanda.

Glacial Dreams

Glacial Dreams, Susan Elliott

Glacial Dreams is painted on poster board in acrylic and egg wash. I love the way the ice shimmers. It looks so cold!
